These people are trying to sell me a credit card account for my new business (EPS Merchants). They said the brand new (however, it’s been sitting in the box for over 2 years) Nurit 8320 terminal that i own is “outdated”–something about needing the latest pci coding…–and they want me to get a “newer” machine from them (same Nurit 8320 model) for $34.99 a month–for 48 months. Wow. On top of this, they want me to SEND them my old one (which I OWN)…?
Supposedly their rates are $10/mo. flat rate, no contract. Plus 1.79% retail credit cards and $0.25 flat fee for all debit cards with pin entered by customer. If pin not used (run debit card as a credit card) then it is 1.49%.
Anyone know if i’m being taken for a ride here?? Thanks in advance…my store’s not even open yet…
@ James: “Data Entry From Home”?? Erm…this is a brick and mortar store, selling water conditioning supplies. Hence the need for a credit card machine. Thanks anyway there…

I have a collection of over 5000 lapel pins. I have been selling them with some success on ebay. I would like to open a web store so I would be able to list most of the with pictures. I want a web store with some kind of merchant account. I have looked at Amazon and Yahoo store fonts, but it seems like the want too big a percent when you sell. Also some other store fronts look good, but they only allow 30 to 100 items or so for the starter store. Any suggestions.

I am purchasing an existing retail store averaging $35k in sales per month. Should I keep the same merchant providers and equipment or shop around? Any recommendations on the multitude of account providers out there?

I am starting a business and want to sell online. I cannot decide between an ebay store and selling directly on my website accepting credit cards with a merchant account. Anyone have experience with these two options?

I have a yahoo merchant account, which I love, but I really stuck on how to upload items in bulk in my store. I have over 100 items I need to upload, and to do them by hand would be insane, any suggestions?

I have a friend who want to launch an online store but doesn’t want the hassle of opening her own merchant account.
PayPal would be fine but she knows there are still sales that would be lost without the ability to accept regular credit cards.
Are there any online ‘malls’ that can accept credit cards for you?

Do I need a merchant account from my bank to accept credit cards on my online store?
Would I need one if I used PayPal exclusively?
