Ebay Payment Question?

What does this basically mean? i am not getting it.
” You need to accept PayPal or merchant credit card as a payment method for listings in this category.

I want to open up a website to sell stuff, but I’m not sure if I should use a Merchant account or a Paypal account? What’s the difference?
