Opening local retail store, anyone know how to find good credit card merchant account?

These people are trying to sell me a credit card account for my new business (EPS Merchants). They said the brand new (however, it’s been sitting in the box for over 2 years) Nurit 8320 terminal that i own is “outdated”–something about needing the latest pci coding…–and they want me to get a “newer” machine from them (same Nurit 8320 model) for $34.99 a month–for 48 months. Wow. On top of this, they want me to SEND them my old one (which I OWN)…?

Supposedly their rates are $10/mo. flat rate, no contract. Plus 1.79% retail credit cards and $0.25 flat fee for all debit cards with pin entered by customer. If pin not used (run debit card as a credit card) then it is 1.49%.

Anyone know if i’m being taken for a ride here?? Thanks in advance…my store’s not even open yet…

Paypal recently screwed me over for $1398. I have to wait 180 days to get it. Because I had no credit so they terminated my account. Damn lamerz! Anywho I need a merchant account. I looked up the best ones but they require me to have a drivers license and I can’t wait 2 weeks ( when it arrives), yeah don’t have one. I do have an ID. So any help, advice, resources would be great! I need it as soon as possible because frankly, paypal froze my account for 3 weeks and I need to put food on the table for the kids and pay bills. Thnx!

Hello, I am looking to build a typical e-commerce site for my store that includes a shopping cart and payment processing. Can you tell me what sites are the best for this, I am interested in quality as well as price. Merchant account pricing is important, but so is having uptime. Also is it better to combine your in-store transactions with your online transactions?
