I’m starting an ecommerce site that will sell things from China and will be delivered in the provinces of China. My business registration is in California. So basically, no items or goods will come to CA, just the payment. For security reason and convenience, my merchant account and bank depository is in California. My market primarily are Chinese people in the US who will want to buy things for their family who are in China. With this situation, what are the taxes applicable to me in the state of California?

or is Paypal sufficient? I want to accept credit cards on my web site.

If i set up a merchant account, will I get software to put a shopping cart in my site? i built my site with dreamweaver, and they have a shoppingcart, and i use hostmonster.com for a host and THEY have a shopping cart/merchant account package… but i also have a friend that sells merchant accounts.. what should i do>???

Does anyone with experience on this subject… HOW DOES IT WORK??? I mean, to have an E-Commerce… Do I need a Merchant Account? a Payment Gateway?… both?
What is the difference between them, is there is any?…

I am looking to find the best merchant account provider that will allow both swipe and e-commerce abilities at low enough rates for a small cafe avg $3.50 per transaction. I would prefer to know about companies you might be using or have used in the past. Thanks!
