I filed a dispute with my bank (Chase Bank) for a duplicate charge on July 29th 2009. I purchased something and for some reason I was charged twice. I called customer service, they were able to see what happened and reversed the duplicate charge and put the money back into my account. Now today, Oct 8th 2009, I get a letter from them (chase bank) stating that they are reversing the credit and taking the money back out of my account. They said it is out of their control and I have to contact the merchant. Can they even do that, over 2 months later?? Are there any statute of limitations on this?? and the problem is, its not any small amount, its over $700! What is the next step I have to do. I contacted the merchant and they said I need to go through my bank and dispute it, but the bank says they can do nothing else about it….any help, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks
