I recently purchased the licenses to 6 online stores, fully equipped with credit card processors, shopping carts, and merchant accounts. I have already found a product I wish to sell using the first of my 6 websites. However, the distributor needs an EIN before I enter into business with them. What all do I need to get to conduct business legally from my home over the internet? I will be particpating mostly in dropshipping and I am located in Michigan. Is it necessary to form a business and register a DBA?

I closed my business, however, I left the business account open just in case I wanted to restart later. I told the merchant company to close my account and they did not and accessed my checking 2 times and caused overdraft fees. Anyone know my rights. An Inc. business is suppose to be treated seperately from an individual. The company had its own EIN and it was listed under the company name NOT mine. However, I was an officer on the account..

I’m starting my own online business and need to process credit cards. I’m familiar with paypal and clickbank but would like to see if getting a merchant account with credit card processing features be a better fit for my business.
However, I know that many banks do not like internet businesses, so is there a company that specializes in this type of accounts?

I really need a merchant account for my online business. It’s comletely online, I woulsn’t need a physical machine. I already talked to my bank, the one I’ve been going to for years whom I run my personal and business accounts through, and they won’t give me one because it’s a new business and I need to have it running for at least a year. My business isn’t actually in operation yet, I mean it’s registered with all the necessary paperwork but will launch sometime in early 2011. That’s the point, I was to secure a merchant account before I open.
So, please, any advice on getting a merchant account? Is it better to contact local banks? Big national banks? I really need advice, I am opening so soon and the process can take so long!
Thank you!
I’m not sure how relocation and baby names makes somebody ditsy. Also, the bank I spoke to doesn’t know about either one of those things. I own a publishing company, and work as a consultant. But, thank you for sharing your answer.
