I have read the worse of the worse stories about Paypal, Authorize.net and a few other merchant services. Where can I find a low-risk online merchant service with maximum credibility and hopefully one that is local to North Carolina. (if not then which ever)

I’m a recent graduate. It’s a tough job market right now. I was offered a job for a company who sells merchant services, basically the hardware software and service to accept credit cards for businesses. They say it’s a career sales job but it’s a call center environment and the base is only 25k.I have a feeling this may be one of those companies that burn and turn their employees and kind of prey on new grads. This isn’t exactly what I was looking for but am open to it if there’s decent commissions to make and if its a good business to be in. Have you worked in this industry? What do you think?

The merchant insists on charging full City+State tax rate for my online purchase, but I happen to live outside of city limits, and so should only pay the state rate and no city tax.
It’s an ongoing problem that continues despite several people having drawn it to the merchant’s attention on various occasions.
I will try to get a refund (after the fact) by calling and writing to the merchant. But clearly they won’t fix the underlying problem, so I think it should be brought to the attention of the appropriate regulatory authorities. Whom should I contact?

I am planning on accepting credit cards over the internet, in person and over the phone. I need something reliable and solid and of course I am willing to pay more for a better co. that will provide the service in that reliable fashion.

It’s rock bottom merchant. Everything seems too good to be true. So usually when it’s too good to be true, it’s is.
So what do you think of this company
